Awakening is an endless strip-tease. We are continually invited to see where we are still believing in some kind of conclusion, or assumption about who we are and about Life itself. This endless stripping away of whatever we are holding onto, leaves us naked and vulnerable. This can be a scary and uncomfortable process, and leaves us with no firm ground under our feet. But at the same time it answers a call from who we really are, to wake up out of the dreams of the mind, and to come alive as Life itself.
In this retreat with Unmani, we will meet in a group of people who are all longing to wake up and to live freely as the truth of who we are. We will meet in the Silence beyond all the words, while at the same time exploring any beliefs, or misconceptions that arise. Unmani holds each individual, and the whole group, in loving Presence, which provides a safe space to go deeper.

Casa Meranka
The retreat with Unmani will be held at the guesthouse called Casa Meranka. In the charming village of Figueira, just a 15 minute beautiful winding walk from one of the areas most stunning beaches the oasis that is Casa Meranka, sits gracefully. Within the pink walls, there are four charming cottages and one larger house, ideal for friends and families, all surrounded with luscious, green courtyards.
Cosy, characterful lounge areas, two large bbq spots to cook your locally sourced and grown food from the market and your own outside dining area to eat alfresco for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Spend afternoons exploring the expansive coastline and relaxing in the Algarvian sunshine with regular cooling dips in our six meter fresh water pool.
The combination of birdsong, green plant life, fruit trees and abundance of fresh herbs, Casa Meranka has the ingredients to invite you to slow down, recharge yourself and enjoy the local lifestyle.
Casa Meranka and the village of Figueira are nestled deep inside the Costa Vicentina National Park, a widely protected area of rolling hills, marshland, imposing cliffs, rocky coves and incredible beaches which stretches from Odeceixe on the West Coast all the way to Burgau on the South Coast. Here, peace and tranquility reign supreme and the most usual background sounds are birdsong and the crashing of waves on the pristine beaches.
The south coast is dotted with golden sand and rocky bays with hidden caves and crystal clear waters that can have a Mediterranean feel in summer. In the winter they come alive as some of Portugal’s most beautiful and hidden surf spots with regular off shore winds and numerous options of wave type and size.
The wild west coast offers vast, dramatic views, endless rolling waves and beaches so large that if you venture off the beaten track you can always find an empty surf spot and a beach to yourself. Some of Portugal’s and indeed Europe’s most classic surf breaks are located on this section of the west coast.
A Typical Day

8:00 AM: Movement session
9:00 AM: Breakfast
10:00 AM: Session with Unmani
11:30 AM: Tea break
12:00 PM: Session with Unmani
1:30 PM: Lunch and freetime to relax, go for a walk, go to the pool, socialise or be alone.
7:00 PM: Dinner
8:00 PM: Session with Unmani/Other group activities
Accomodation 
The guest house is made up of four individual cottages and a larger house named, Bay Tree House. Each with their own unique look and feel, from a cosy studio type cottage to our spacious large house with three bedrooms and a big kitchen and bright living room. All with their diversity and charm, you will feel immediately at home.
All the accommodation has its own fully equipped kitchens, private outdoor dining areas and shares two luscious green courtyards, providing your own quiet home from home while also offering spaces to share special moments with others.
During your stay, you can enjoy the beautiful lounge areas, a herb garden, fresh water 6 meter pool and BBQs.
Meals
This retreat will be a little different to Unmani’s usual retreats… During this retreat we will only provide 3 group meals throughout the 8 days – one at the beginning, one in the middle and one at the end of the retreat. All other meals are left up to you to arrange for yourself. Each cottage at Casa Meranka has its own kitchen, so that you can prepare meals by yourself or with other retreat participants. There is a supermarket only a short drive away. There are also several very sweet cafes and restaurants within a few minutes walk away in the village of Figueira and also in the nearby area.
How to get there
The nearest airport is Faro Airport. You can either hire a car or there is good public transport to the village of Figueira.
You will receive more detailed directions and information once you book your place.
When making your travel arrangements, please make sure you are able to arrive before 6pm on 12th November and stay for the whole retreat.

The retreat starts at 6pm with the first group meal and then an introduction session. The retreat will end on 19th November after our last session.
Please keep in mind the time that it may take to travel to the venue and MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARRIVE WELL BEFORE 6PM ON THE 12TH NOVEMBER, BUT NO EARLIER THAN 4PM. Unmani likes the whole group to be present for the opening dinner and introduction meeting.
Your registration includes:
– 3 daily sessions with Unmani (1.5 hour each)
– a small intimate group
– First few days of group silence in between sessions with Unmani
– each session includes sharings and intimate dialogues
– full participation is asked
– talks
– guided meditations
– non-verbal activities (dance, creative expression) that offer ways of exploring truth beyond the words and concepts
– Songs by Robert Hanuman, based on Unmani’s words
– All sessions will be recorded for your own personal viewing after the retreat
– afternoons to reflect, to explore the area, go to the beach, to socialize or to be on your own
– three vegetarian meals starting with dinner on the first day, a meal in the middle of the week, and ending with dinner on the last evening.
Payment
The prices are per person and the total price includes all sessions with Unmani plus accommodation and 3 group meals.
The price for 8 days of Unmani’s teaching is set much lower than usual so that we can make this retreat available to all those who would like to join. However, if you feel that you would like to, and have the means to, pay more, we very much appreciate and welcome that. Thank you.

Booking Procedure
To confirm your place at the intensive a non-refundable deposit of €250 is required at the time of booking. Payment can be made online via PayPal using a debit or credit card or by bank transfer. If you would like to pay in another currency or would like details to pay by bank transfer, please specify details in the booking form.
If you would like to come to the intensive but have sincere financial difficulties, please contact us to enquire about discounts and helping out at the intensive.

The deposit is non-refundable.
